Review: CD

The sweet Swedish collective Mr Death, with members that used to play in Treblinka / Tiamat and Expulsion / River’s Edge, was formed in 2007. After the release of the Unearthing-demo, Mr Death entered the legendary Sunlight Studio with Tomas Skogsberg for the recording of the internationally successful debut full length Detached From Life. And the result was superb – see review posted by (it) in January 2010.
Only twenty minutes, it’s sad, it’s disappointing, because I want more! I know I must be grateful for each new release of (such) high quality, yet to please me, you need to play at least a few hours ;o) (or have a nice couple of bumpers, yet this has nothing to do with Metal, so please ignore this addition…).
So, Death Suits You comes with the same dirtiness, the same Old Skool dirtiness as Detached … If the sound wasn’t that ‘full’, I would believe this material had been recorded twenty years ago. Oke, there are other elements that betray a ‘newer’ approach: duelling vocals, modernised guitar solos and a well-balanced mixture, to name but a few details. Yet as from the first track on, my mind dwells into those spheres where bands as Putrefaction, Morbid, Grave, Nihilist / early Entombed, Dismember, as well as the members’ former bands, wander.
New album? Foreseen when???
