I had never thought we’d be hearing something from The Quireboys, I didn’t even know they still existed, but hey pronto, here you’ve got the latest installment to the Live & Loud Collection from Global Music, a live recording dating back to 2004 from a show The Quireboys gave in the Marquee in London.

And boy what a gig it was; Now normally I am not a big fan of live recordings, but this time after first listening to the CD, which brought back a lot of memories of days gone by, I also put on the DVD. I must say the band at that time must have been on their peak, which might be explained by the fact that they had been touring UK Arenas as part of the 2004 “Monsters Of Rock Tour”.

Their music brings back memories to other bands that also played more or less in the same style, like The Georgia Satellites, The Rainmakers. It’s not hard rock, but it’s great rock, a combination of rock’n’roll, boogie, blues, a bit of glam. I did not owe a copy of any of their work before, except a music cassette which sadly hasn’t survived the years, so I’m glad I got this CD.  This is one of those bands who brought out a great album in the late eighties, but never achieved or got the success they deserved as a band.

A must buy for fans of the genre.
