Band: Tenebrae In Perpetuum / Krohm Debemur Morti might be one of the strongest underground-labels nowadays with lots of splendid bands and projects on its rooster. Earlier this year, I had, for example, a review posted on Tenebrae In Perpetuum’s L’Eterno Maligno Silenzio (posted on January 13th 2010). This project opens the grandiose split you’re reading the review on right now. Tenebrae In Perpetuum are a project by Atratus aka Frozen Glare Smara (guitars, bass, keyboards, vocals; known from e.g. Beatrik and Tronus Abyss), who still works closely together with (session) drummer Vidharr of Chelmno / Beatrik / Near-fame. Since its birth in 2001, Tenebrae In Perpetuum create darkened, haunting underground Black Metal. The three songs on this split-album were recorded at Necropalace Studio and mastered at Necromorbus Studio (just like Krohm’s part on this release) and are, like the earliest releases, more slow-to-mid-tempo-oriented than it was the case during the second half of the current decade. Krohm are one of the many projects by Numinas (real name: Dario Derna), known from e.g. Evoken, Vetus Obscurum (album Blood Revelations, also released through Debemur Morti, was posted on March 13th 2010), Abazagorath, Funebrarum (The Sleep Of Morbid Dreams, Debemur Morti, review updated at July 19th 2009) or Drawn And Quartered. He started this project fifteen years ago to satisfy his desire to perform primitive underground Black Metal with an early-nineties approach. Krohm did release two demos and two full lengths in mean time, which I do like a lot, all of them. And this joyful (sorry, I’m trying not to vomit after using such a filthy combination of alphabetic letters) excitement continues (please notice sort of a smile on my face…). Fuck (trying to) be(ing) original! Shut up and enjoy! 92/100 Ivan Tibos. |
