Band : Angels Of Babylon Another good release by Metal Heaven, and to say the year has only just started.... Angels Of Babylon is formed around former Manowar drummer Rhino, together with former Megadeth bassist David Ellefson and singer David Fefolt (who once sung in Forgotten Realm, Hawk, Masi) and finally guitarist Ethan Brosh (never heard of him before but he seems to come out of the Mike Varney stable). According to the info, Rhino had these songs lying around for a few years already, and was just waiting for the right line-up to come along to form a band with, and record them. What immediately stands out is that Ethan is a fantastic guitarist, and David also is a great vocalist. Now to compare this to any other band is very difficult. It's US power metal, but whit a tad more. Think hints of Manowar a bit of Virgin Steele, some Black Sabbath and you're not even halfway there. One song that surprised me on this album was the instrumental "The Remnant", but if you take into account that Rhino also plays the piano it all adds up. A very good debut album. 83/100 Erik Morren. |
