Review: CD

The German band Hellish Crossfire started about seven-eight years ago and did release two demos in the early years, which were very well received in their home country. 2006 saw the light of the band’s debut studio album, Slaves Of The Burning Pentagram, and in 2008 there was the release of a split with Violent Attack.

Last year, the band entered the studio in this line-up: Iron Tyrant (vocals -in the early years he was the drummer of the band; also in Delirium Tremens and former member of Old), Evil Possessor (drums; from Excoriate), Iron Incubus (guitars; Gardens Of Gehenna, Anael), and Sick (bass; from Profanation). And the result easily exceeds the former efforts!Bloodrust Scythe stands for Teutonic Old School Excellence. The massive sound supports the eighties-oriented Speed / Thrash / Black package with grim pleasure and the production is sulphuric and poisonous. Damn, it makes me horny! The band combines elements from, especially German, eighties-acts, such as Poison, Minotaur, Sodom, Iron Angel and a little bit of Kreator, as well as super-act Desaster, and non-German formations such as Tormentor, Possessed and Dead Head – even old Bathory often comes to mind. Hurray! The performance could have been inferior to the band’s will to resurrect the old school; however, Hellish Crossfire created such

intelligent pieces of timeless rawness, perfectly paying tribute to one of the most interesting scenes within the extreme Metal’s history ever! Conclusion: Metal Supremacy!!!
