Band: Order Of Ennead I recently read that Order Of Ennead are ‘just a Deicide-side project’, but I do not agree at all. Yes, some members have been involved with Deicide before, but musically Order Of Ennead do differ a lot from their ‘main band’. As a matter of fact, this second album was recorded by Steve Asheim, Kevin Quirion (the great vocalist of Council Of The Fallen) and John Li – indeed, a well-experienced team, with the most profound aim to create a morbid combination of brutality with an almost classical Metal sensibility. The nine tracks, with duration of forty minutes, vary from fast to ultra-fast, yet also with some slower parts. Especially the drum patterns are inhumanly blast-beating most of the time, and it might sound too exaggerated from time to time. Every title is well-structured, with excellent solo work, and with a total lack of over-production or cowardice compromises. The guitar-driven yet rhythmic songs have a rather oppressing and darkened atmosphere, and the grim screams (in interaction with a few deep death grunts) bravely cross the border with the Black Metal scene. Besides, the overall sound, atmosphere and performance aren’t just meant for the Death Metal audience; I’m sure a lot of Black Metal fans will love this second Order Of Ennead-album to black, I mean, to death… 90/100 Ivan Tibos. |
