Band : Taking Dawn Taking Dawn is one of the bands that has recently signed a contract with Roadrunner Records. Coming from Las Vegas, it's no wonder that some Glam influences have seeped into this album, but with a modern approach. The opening track is stunningly good and could easily become a single, but I sincerely wonder if it will get much airplay in the US, after all with their so called "morality" they might take offense in the swearing the song contains. I personally don't mind it at all. What strikes me immediately is that Chris Babbit has a great throat. Wow, can he sing. Every once in a while Taking Dawn even reminds me of Limp Bizkit. With some good promotion I think they could easily get some airplay in Europe as well. Whereas the first six tracks are astonishing, sadly enough the second half of the album is a bit disappointing. Compositions aren't as strong as the first six songs, and they seem to be struggling a bit with the direction they want to go in. Not a bad album, but I'd give it a thorough listening before buying it. 65/100 Erik Morren. |
