Band : Juvaliant If you wonder "What kind of a group name is this?", I confess myself having doubts about it. But then again, there have, and always will be groups with even stranger names. As a matter of fact Juvaliant is a compilation of the Latin word “Juvavum”, which is the Latin name for the town of Salzburg, and the English word “valiant”. With this info you might also have guessed that this band hails from Austria. Founded in 2003, it took them till 206 before the actual line-up was completed. And I think this is shown in the maturity of the songwriting, of the performing, never overdoing it, but still bringing many elements, from John Schaffer like riffs to Rhapsody or Luca Turilli neo-classical stuff. How to describe their music : it’s progressive power metal, with symphonic elements in it as well. Musically it fits perfectly, great guitar work, good keyboards, fantastic rhythm section, and on top of that a very good vocalist. Ok, once again they haven't reinvented the genre, or added new depths to it, but who cares. It's a great album, with 9 good tracks. Each time I spun it, I discovered something new. 92/100 Erik Morren. |
