Review : CD

Comprised of 4 outstanding performers, each in his own right King Hobo are Per Wiberg on Keys/Vocals/Guitars (Opeth, Spiritual Beggars, Mojobone), Thomas Juneor Andersonn on vocals/ guitars (Kamchatka), Ulf Rochus Ivarsonn on Bass and by no means leastly Jean Paul Gaster taking care of Drums (Clutch, Wino, Bakerton Group, Five Horse Johnson). A power four some with a strong Southern Rock touch who have a passion for R ‘n’ B. King  Hobo are a heavy, explosive jam band with a rhythmic dynamic interpretation of solid Funk, Blues, Soul, Jazz and Rock.

In terms of their style King Hobo are Deep Purple, Blackfoot, Allman Bros, Cream Funkadelic, Mountain, Guess Who, Canned Heat and Rare Earth all rolled into one. This 10 track collaboration reaches the heights of the above mentioned bands as they roll through “From me to you”, “Leaving letter blues”, “Swede”, “Moonshine”  to create catchy tunes, power riffs, with a force to drive a tank. They have even gone all Deep Purpley on us with the racing “Swede”. The surprise is the last track, “Mr Clean”. which goes on for 11.46 minutes and goes through the barriers of  groove rock and at the same time reminded me of Art Ensemble Of Chicago.

An excellent debut CD with a watering in the mouth for the next chapter.
