Band : State Cows I don't really know what to think of this CD. It's a joint effort by Daniel Andersson, whom you might know from his solo-album Days in L.A. and Stefan Olofsson, who also had a helping hand in Daniel's solo album. Writing and recording this album took them about two years. While Daniel took care of the vocals and the guitars, Stefan busied himself with the keyboards and bass. However they were assisted by a score of Swedish and Finnish musicians, and there even was a guest appearance by Jay Graydon, who played the guitar solo on "New York Town". Musically I think this is a must have for all lovers of Westcoast music/ AOR. I find it sound a lot like Chicago, but with a softer edge. You also get traces of Steely Dan, and (the first) Marc Jordan albums. So obviously its very harmonic and poppy, with lots of trumpets etc. Not really my cup of tea, although I do like a well proportioned dose of Chicago from time to time. 75/100 Erik Morren. |
