Cancer Bats is a Punk/hardcore band from Canada and was founded on May 2004 with singer Leam Cormier and guitarist Scott Middleton who were former member of Toronto based heavy metal band “At The Mercy Of Inspiration”.
Here they founded each other and wanted to form a project that combined their favorite parts of bands like Led zeppelin, Black Flag, Down and some others. Later on when the line up was completed, the four-piece wasted no time writing and recording songs for a self-released demo that saw light in January 2005.
Of course a lot has happened since then, not only with the band but also with the music. It still has its own unique sound and sounds brutal (more brutal in a punk way than in a brutal hardcore kind of way). The best thing about the album is that you get 14 tracks for you money worth but I’ll have to disappoint a lot of people, its cool, its punk, its brutal, but all the songs sound the same and become boring and dull. But than again, I was expecting more hardcore elements.

70/100
