Band: 36 Crazyfists 36 Crazyfists are a four-piece metal band that was formed in 1994 in Alaska, but now have a new home base in Oregon. The original members were vocalist Brock Lindow, guitarists Steve Holt and Ryan Brownell, bassist JD Stuart, and drummer Thomas Noonan. Holt is from Kenai, and Lindow spent much of his childhood there and so got to know each other. In July 1996, bassist JD Stuart died in a car accident. At that time, Brownell retired from the band and the remaining members recruited bassist Mick Whitney. After just a few more little line up changes, the band has been since then a solid metal band building up their reputation and album collection. Their latest addition in that last is surprising one. These days, nu-metal is dead, but there are a few bands (like 36 Crazyfists) that can keep the flag waving. Upon hearing this album, you know why. Hard vocals, melodies, and awesome metalcore influenced guitar riffs instead of focusing on the rap influences make up for one hell of an interesting album. And with a surprise, the last track on the album is a much slower song that gives a nice refreshing feel to the rest of the heavy sounding album. 75/100 Jeroen. |
