A band which was once an extreme grindcore band strays away from this sound on its latest release, Fuckin’ A!. I’m talking about Anal Cunt who released its last album somewhere back in 1999. They’ve turned into a more melodic road, but their lyrics are quite contradictory now: it sounds very melodic, but the lyrics are about women and all the bad things you can do with them. Just look at titles such as Kicking Your Ass And Fucking Your Bitch, Whiskey, Coke And Sluts, All I Give A Fuck About Is Sex, I’m Gonna Give You AIDS, … By using these song titles, they’ve definitely proven their manhood, that’s a certainty. By using this ‘softer’ melody and due to the weak backing vocals, it sounds like the band is not sincere and don’t mean what they’re singing.
Their singer still sounds very bad-ass though. At times, this record makes me think of Peter Pan Speedrock. Songs such as Fuck Yeah and Loudest Stereo definitely are some songs to sing along to, but further than that, I don’t know what to do with a lot of the songs. It all sounds a bit too much as one big mess.
One advice: only listen to this when being in a drunk state, a state in which I never am unfortunately.
