Band : Crime In Stereo Phiew man, Crime In Stereo are really something! And I have to admit I like ‘em more with each release I hear from ‘em [to be correct, I got acquainted with ‘em through their Bridge 9 debut Crime In Stereo Is Dead (which followed two earlier full-lengths – check out the review I made, posted 15/11/2007), and to tie us over B9 released the “compilation” (actually a collection of previously recorded but unreleased songs) Selective Wreckage, my review of which was posted 26/10/2008) – both reviews contain the info you need to get update with the band up to that point], because the band’s accessible Progressive touch in their very own hybrid of melodic Punk & Hardcore, combined with their specific vocal approach, is simply unmatched…and elevates the band to a level quite of its own! I’m not sure about all of the band’s tribulations since the release of 2008’s “compilation” album Selective Wreckage, the news bits I have got relating to the band having toured with label mates Strik Anywhere, Polar Bear Club and Ruiner during October 2009, playing a headline show at Gainesville, Florida’s The Fest event, and then again hitting the road with Brand New, Thrice, and Glassjaw during November. Now with the new album already released late February, the boys have already started touring the US in promotion of the album (as confirmed at this moment, dates in US will be running through to the end of April – last update, med-February they also played some shows in London, UK), and also there’s already been quite some rave reviewing of the album by the most important media. Not surprisingly to myself, most reviews seem to agree with me that CIS is improving with each album, giving it top ratings along the way! For those among you needing further confirmation before going out to buy the album…well, if you’re living in the States, chances are the band will be playing somewhere in your neighborhood in the near future, so perhaps you should check ‘em out? The band’s announced it will be on tour in support of the album the rest of the year, so chances are they’ll pass through Europe again too. Otherwize, there’s always the 5 songs (out of 11 on the album) the band posted at myspace.comcrimeinstereo (alongside the 4 off previous full-length In Dead, so there’s enough for you to get a good idea of what these guys are about!). Oh yeah…let’s not forget to mention that the album’s also out in vinyl edition, in different colours too! 98/100 Tony. |
