Gamma Ray is a German power metal band from and is founded and fronted by Kai Hansen after his adventure in Helloween because he thought it got to big for him and decided to form his own project with his long-time friend Ralf Scheepers (Tyran Pace). This two-man project grew into a four-man band with the addition of Uwe Wessel on the bass and Mathias Burchardt on the drums. Kai is the chief songwriter, lead singer and also a guitar player. And despite having many lineup changes in their early career, the band's lineup has remained stable since 1997.
Thus was Gamma Ray born and released the album “Heading For Tomorrow” in February 1990. 8 albums several line up changes and 20 years, our friend Hansen released album number 9 called “To The Metal” last Month.
Because I’m not really into this genre or into this band but still wanted to be neutral after I listened to the album, I went to my friend and band mate (who is a hardcore Gamma Ray fan but due to his collage studies can actually be very objective about everything). He told me that this is you typical Gamma Ray style album and that this one is better than the previous album, they copied less than before but the album is not as powerful as previous records or as strong as he (as a fan) hoped it will be.
