Review: CD

The German band Voices Of Destiny was formed five years ago and last year they won a contest, called Youngsterball. This led to a contract with major Massacre Records, with as first result the debut full length From The Ashes.
From The Ashes is indeed something that will do just fine in Germany. It is an album, filled with every single imaginable cliché within the Goth Metal scene: almost operatic female vocals and some grunts, melodic songs, floating keyboards, catchy rhythms, interaction between heavier parts and (semi-) acoustic emotional pieces, some fast guitar solos, bombastic and orchestral moments, the addition of piano, etc.
The whole is terribly predictable, completely lacking of originality, and unfortunately most parts bore me enormously. All right, sometimes I am almost impressed (I repeat: almost), yet this band doesn’t bring much animation.
Thanks, but no thanks…
Oh yes, for the record: Maike Holzmann has a nice voice, I need to say!

65/100
