Review: CD
Polish formation Thy Disease, once labelled as ‘best Polish band’ (in 2001), has always been standard for decent and powerful, industrialised and pounding Death Metal. And this time, well, it’s just the same, except for, again, a positive progression; read: better sound and more mature, cohesive hymns. And the high quality of any former recording returns this time, luckily.
Anshur Za did also progress in musical evolution. More than before, this album sounds cosmic and Industrial-injected, with lots of electronic and mechanic elements. The guitar-driven and up-tempo tracks are firmly performed, leaving no room for compromises. And each track comes with splendour and majesty, in all its possibilities. The keyboards / synths are of huge importance, adding that harsh, sub-human atmosphere, bringing a band as Ensoph to mind. And besides the abyssal grunts, there are more so-called ‘clean’ vocals than before too. I think, but that isn’t but my personal opinion, that this might be the major ‘problem’ with Anshur Za, unfortunately, because it lowers the average level of intensity in a disappointing way. The supportive rhythm section is massive and gives the album that technical touch of unbreakable strength.
Anshur Za may not be the most interesting Thy Disease-recording to date, yet again the result is monumental and barbaric.
Oh yes, the album comes with two bonus track among which one mistake: the Within Temptation-cover Frozen.
80/100
