Release date: April 9th 2010
Review: CD

The second Votum-full length, Metafiction, was recorded at the (small) Izabelin Studio during summer last year, and now it gets available for the European audience, thanks to the renewed promotional contract with e.g. Suburban or Indie. The album lasts for almost forty five minutes and the production / sound is decent.
Musically, Votum combines emotional Rock ballads with melodic and slightly alternative Post-Rock and a hint of Progressive Metal. A first name that comes to mind is Riverside, going for both musical approach and atmosphere. In some tracks, the atmosphere is closely comparable to many Prophecy-releases, yet most of the time Metafiction sounds more catchy and poppy. Another name that sometimes comes to mind is Antimatter, yet I guess fans of current Anathema and Porcupine Tree will appreciate this recording too.
Unfortunately it sometimes bores me enormously, but I’m sure this album will do well within its specific genre???

70/100
