CD REVIEW Wormrot

Band: Wormrot
Title: Abuse
Label: Earache Records
Distribution: Rough Trade
Release date: April 5th 2010
Review: MCD

Wormrot are a nasty Grind-combo from Singapore, debuting with Abuse on major Earache. And it is a merciless debut mini-album.

Abuse lasts for twenty two minutes, yet consists of twenty three explosions. Indeed, this brings us to the core of Wormrot’s sonic assaults: old stylish Grindcore with mass-murdering blasts and blitzkrieg-dynamics. Of course it completely lacks of originality, yet that’s the way how to play this no-nonsense majesty, isn’t it? And the whole recording gets performed with lust for destruction and a never-failing intensity.
And what about the cover of Yeah Yeah YeahsRich?!…
Abuse sounds old skool, it breathes old skool, it is old skool material for fans of Terrorizer, Repulsion, Insect Warfare, Brutal Truth, Nasum and Napalm Death.

This album also comes in a version with a bonus-disc, featuring thirty four rare or unreleased songs, taken from the band’s demos as well as the recording sessions of Abuse, which did not make the final cut.

An evident recommendation to all fans of higher mentioned formations!

80/100
