Fall Out Boy (FOB) are taking a break for indefinite time and thus the record company considered it a brilliant idea to release a compilation of greatest hits.
Fifteen singles and three bonus tracks are gathered on “Believers Never Die – Greatest Hits”.
Fortunately, the songs have been put in chronological order.
So, the album starts with the three singles “Dead On Arrival”, “Grand Theft Autumn / Where Is Your Boy” and “Saturday” from the album“Take This To Your Grave” (2003), followed by the three singles “Sugar, We’re Goin Down”, “Dance, Dance” and “A Little Less Sixteen Candles, A Little More Touch Me” from the break-through album  “From Under The Cork Tree” (2005). Next up are the four singles “This Ain’t A Scene, It’s An Arms Race”, “Thnks Fr Th Mmrs”, “The Take Over, The Breaks Over” and “I’m Like A Lawyer With The Way I’m Always Trying To Get You Off (Me & You)” from the successful album “Infinity On High” (2007). Then we have the cover version of Michael Jackson’s “Beat It” with John Mayer on guitar, that was featured as a studio recording on the live album “Live In Phoenix” (2008). The last studio album, “Folie à Deux” (2008), is featured by the singles “I Don’t Care”, “America’s Suitehearts” and the piano ballad “What A Catch, Donnie”. Last, but not least is the new single “Alpha Dog”.And it doesn’t stop at that, because not less than three bonus tracks are added, “From Now On We Are Enemies”, “Yule Shoot Your Eye Out” and “Growing Up”.
Now, the foursome are on hiatus after living hectic years of recording and touring. Know that, since their formation in 2001, the band from Illinois have sold more than 12 million copies worldwide. The great melodic mixture of poppunk, emo and punkrock is mostly attractive to teenagers who recognize themselves in the ironic lyrics of bass player Pete Wentz. Another undeniable strong point of FOB is the extremely appealing voice of singer Patrick Stump.

If I’m well informed, the members are planning some personal projects during the FOB hiatus. Guitar player Joe Trohman and drummer Andy Hurley have teamed up with members of Every Time I Die and to create a metal supergroup called The Damned Things. Bass player and main lyricist Pete Wentz wants less media attention (not that easy when you are married to Ashlee Simpson), is working on a comic book and collaborating with vocalist Craig Owens. Patrick Stump will continue producing other bands.

Maybe we will hear something again from Fall Out Boy in 2011?

80/100
