Formed in 2007 in Quebec City, Aeternam, a melodic death metal band has been preparing to unleash their first studio release and Metal Blade Records debut upon the world. The band combines classic death metal songwriting with epic melodic soloing and middle-eastern influences. A bit like “Nile” not just  crushing riffs, pounding bass lines, and brutal growls paving the way for epic solos but with the addition of acoustic melodies, ambient keyboards, large vocal harmonies, clean vocals and calmer passages witch makes them stand out from other typical death metal bands and give you a feeling like you are in a movie.
Now the downside to all this vacation sounds is that in a few passages they take a bit to much time to create the mood and atmosphere they want show you and does get a bit annoying. But overall this is a nice album with lots of creativity on it and is intended not only for fans of Nile or Behemoth, but is also very commercialized for non-fans of the genre.

76/100
