Review: CD

During its existence, covering a period of more than two decades in mean time, Immolation have become one of the most influential bands within the worldwide scene. As from their 1991-debut Dawn Of Possession (Roadrunner), the band conquered the underworlds with mercilessness and ferocity. And each next album equalled or improved any former effort.
Majesty And Decay, the band’s first release through Nuclear Blast (before,Immolation were signed to majors as Metal Blade and Listenable), also surpasses all previous recordings with ease. No, of course the band does not bring something completely new; why should they? But the tracks on Majesty And Decay are clearly written / composed and performed by experienced musicians. Most parts are lightning fast and intelligently aggressive, and often the band slows down too – excellent, because it keeps the whole varying. The tracks have an unstoppable energy and come with a sense of shadowy obscurity and crushing divinity. And what about the massive sound, done by long-time producer Paul Orofino (Millbrook Sound Studios) and mixer / master Zack Ohren (Castle Ultimate Studios).
Or, to keep it short yet clear: this is an evident Immolation-creation, a must for every immolator!
