Infiltrate… Obliterate… Dominate is the fifth album by Requiem, one of the strongest and most intense Death Metal acts from Switzerland. For more than ten years, Requiem prove that the Swiss scene, in spite of its modesty, equals the quality of the Austrian en German ones (both very close related).
The ten tracks on Infiltrate… Obliterate… Dominate have duration of forty four minutes and were produced by nobody else but Andy Classen himself (think Belphegor, My Darkest Hate, Varg, Prostitute Disfigurement, Legion Of The Damned and many others), and recorded by this line-up: Michi Kuster (v), Phil Klauser (g), Ralph W. Garcia (b), and Reto Crola (d).
Still the American scene might be the main source of inspiration for Requiem – think: Obituary, Six Feet Under, Divine Empire, Malevolent Creation and consorts – yet also the Canadian (Kataklysm), the British (late Napalm Death, Bolt Thrower), the Austrian (Mastic Scum, Belphegor) and the German (Debauchery, Necrophagist) scene are involved.
Besides this limited originality, also the lack of variation between most tracks might cause a negative effect. However, the superior quality (perfectly skilled performance + intelligently written compositions), the darkened edge Requiem balance on, and the magisterial, grooving sound, make this album an interesting piece of deadly art, highly recommended to every fan of any higher mentioned band / formation.
