CD REVIEW Rotten Sound

Band: Rotten Sound
Title: Napalm
Label: Relapse Records
Distribution: Rough Trade
Release date: March 30th 2010
Review: MCD + bonus-DVD

Rotten Sound, nowadays with members of e.g. defunct Vomiturion / Vomiturition, …And Oceans and Deathbound, probably are my favourite Grind-formation from Finland, and during their existence (they started in 1993), they did release several neo-classics within the international Grind-scene.

This mini-album starts with three own tracks, Mindkill, Dead Remains and Brainload, in the band’s own / well-known style. Indeed, morbid power and mechanical oppression à la Napalm Death, Mistress, Repulsion and Brutal Truth are the keywords.
Next three tracks are Napalm Death-covers: The Kill, Suffer The Children and Missing Link, all performed with grandeur.
The duration of these six songs clocks (only) eleven minutes.

The bonus-DVD brings the band’s live performance on the Obscene Extreme Festival, by the way, for the interested ones.
