The United Kingdom must be the most important supplier of indie rock bands of the last decade. Just think how big British acts Editors, Arctic Monkeys, Placebo, … have become. Fiction Plane is another addition to this long list.
Fiction Plane is a threesome with Joe Sumner on vocals. Perhaps this name doesn’t immediately ring a bell, but if I tell you that he is the son of the world famous singer Sting, you’ll realize that this child has had a head start in the indie circuit. Nevertheless, when he did a tour in support of the band of his father, The Police, he didn’t immediately feel comfortable about that, because he wanted to prove his own musical talent to the world with his band Fiction Plane. Not by standing next to his daddy.
The threesome have released a new single, called Out Of My Face. This song definitely sets the tone for the entire full-length. It’s a typical indie rock song, but you can clearly hear that Fiction Plane have given it a personal touch. The typical guitar tune throughout the song makes the song stick to your memory. Also the voice of Sumner is very pleasant to listen to.
Fans of Editors and Coldplay should definitely check out this album and go to a show, as their European headline tour starts next week.
