Fabri Kiareli was born in Italy, but spent his teens in Mexico. His first meeting with rock was when hearing the Who’s ”Pinball Wizard”. While he was in Mexico he was musically influenced by the nearby USA.  He taught himself how to play guitar, being inspired by Eddie Van Halen, Ace Frehley, Randy Rhoads

In the mid eighties he returned to Italy and started playing I heavy rock bands. Alas, as so many other musicians, his dreams ore hopes were stopped by the grunge movement. To earn some money he drifted of to other musical styles, performing as a guitar player and background vocalist for studio sessions and live concerts. In the new millennium he founded his own band Mr. No, playing covers as well as own material.  Drummer in that band was Mao Granata, who’s also the drummer for F.E.A.S.T..

Now some more about this CD. It clearly shows which (eighties) groups influenced Fabri, groups like Dokken, Ratt, Def Leppard…. So it’s clear that this CD takes us back to the eighties, a balance between melodic hard rock and harder melodic rock, but there are bluesy elements in it as well. Having lived in Mexico must have greatly improved his English, because you can not detect that this guy is an Italian at all. Vocally he puts on a good performance, at times sounding a bit like David Coverdale. The guitar work on this album is just fantastic. Since releasing this album Fabri has put together a live band. Let’s hope they do visit Belgium as well.

A good first effort, worth buying.
