CD REVIEW Phobia

Band: Phobia
Album title: Unrelenting
Label: Relapse Records
Distribution: Rough Trade Benelux
Release date: 23/11/2010
Review: MCD

More than fifteen years, I meantime, this US-based formation can be considered one of the pioneers / most influential bands within the American, and international, Grind-scene.

The band returned to Relapse with the new 7”EP / MCD Unrelenting, which goes shamelessly on in the vein of their latest material (the early years were much more, well, semi-splattering and primitive). The seventeen tracks last for less than fifteen minutes (will I add this ;o)-symbol?), and this tasty combination of d-beat Power-Violence and traditional deadly Grindcore reminds me a lot to a mixture of Regurgitate, Napalm Death, Brutal Truth, Unholy Grave and Repulsion. That’s easy, just to list up some of the bigger names – but listen (and enjoy) and you’ll see what I mean. Oke, I’ll mention new(er) bands: Wormrot, Insect Warfare, Kill The Klient, Nyia etc… All right?

As a result: Phobia completely lack of being renewing. So what?

75/100
