Charred Walls of the Damned is an American heavy metal band that was formed in 2009 and consists of Richard Christy (iced earth), Tim “Ripper” Owens, DiGiorgio Steve and Jason Suecof. A group of people who don’t need a lot of introduction if you are well known with the metal scene.
Somehow Christy got out of the genre He has dropped out of metal for the last several years in order to concentrate upon a career in comedy, and as a sidekick for Howard Stern but after a five-year absence from the metal scene, he returned and when he did, he formed”Charred Walls Of The Damned”. Joining Christy in this venture are guitarist/ producer extraordinaire Jason Suecof (Trivium, Capharnaum), legendary bassist Steve DiGiorgio (Death, Testament, and many others), and Tim “Ripper” Owens (Judas Priest, Iced Earth) as vocalist.
The album opens with the first single, “Ghost Town,” a song sets the tone of the album as technical, melodic and old school heavy metal, but the song quickly changes into a slow melody/solo on guitar. This also counts for the remainder of the album witch in some way is disappointing when you see at the list of names of people in the band. Personally, I feel that it lacks power and spirit and sounds a bit dull and boring, especially because you only get 9 tracks on this disc that due to this all sound very alike. Although these flaws, I think this big (and maybe over hyped) album will find a lot of followers in the mainstream.
