Band : Angeline Although already formed some two decades ago in Sweden, Angeline up to now has never released a full album, the only things available from them being a mini LP Don't Settle For Second Best from 1990, and the single "Rain" from 1994. Now it must be said that they had their fare share of bad luck, the original vocalis Jörgen "Sigge" Sigvardsson having a bad heart condition, for which he underwent surgery in 1995, but sadly he died afterwards from complications. After his death they started searching for a new vocalist, but to no avail. In the end guitar player Jocke Nilsson took over the lead vocals, but at that time they also became a full blown cover band. It was as cover band that they recorded a complete album of cover versions in 1997, but since these were covers I do not count it as a real album. In 2001 they were even disbanded, but the musicians kept close contact, and at least once a every two years they all came together again at the family day that was being held since 1997 in memory of the late vocalist. When in 2007 they decided to perform a one-off show on this special day to celebrate the 20th anniversary they were surprised that their fan base had even grown. So they started writing new songs again, which led to this first album. Playing this CD reminded me of Harem Scarem, Winger, Gun, Def Leppard and other bands as well. The songs are well written, executed to perfection (did you expect it otherwise by a Swedish AOR/Hard rock band ?), catchy....A very promising start. They should have gotten this chance way back. 90/100 Erik Morren. |
