We welcome another doom metal band from Texas, US, (Las Cruces, Well of Souls, Elliots Keep, Last Chapter, Solitude Aeturnus), Project Armageddon. Project Armaggedon have got something special in their music and sound that sets them apart. Most of the 9 songs are played with a crushing heavy groove, with some untypical interwoven ideas and that's a plus aspect, which sets them apart from other doombands. The pace is kept down most of the time, but the music is never boring; the crushing drumming stays interesting, the guitar work is busy throughout, with strange vocals somewhere situated in between Burke Shelley (Budgie), Lynden Williams (Jerusalem) and Tim Baker (Cirith Ungol) that are equally seductive, wailing, disturbing and stabbing. When the music does speeden up, the band hold their own equally well. The guitar work by Brandon Johnson remains one of the band's strongest points, as it displays great ability for engaging, semi-melodic bluesy metallic riffs and leads. Personal faves are the groovy "Plague for shattered man”,  the heavy stomping “Steward of shame” with a St Vitus-like middle part, the brooding “Psyko-sonic”  or “Time’s fortune”  which goes in a more epic Manilla Road direction.

If you’re into doom with a slight epic metal touch, then give this CD a good listen, and I'm sure you'll find something to your liking.
