Band : Shadyon Shadyon was formed in 2002 by Michael Saout and Emmanuel Creis. How they, as a band origination from France, managed to tour in Brazil is a puzzle to me, but it must be that their shows were appreciated back there, because they even appeared on MTV Brazil (Where it the time when they had Headbangers Ball on MTV Europe….) and they even managed to get a sponsorship with WSL Guitars. Shadyon’s first album was released in 2006, after a couple of demo’s. In 2008 they started working on a follow-up album. A deal was signed with Inner Wound Records early in 2010, and this resulted in Mind Control. Emmanuel Creis’s vocals are rather high pitched, and for me it took a while to digest them, but in the end I must say the vocals do fit the music. What’s also a bonus is that you don’t immediately hear that this is a French bend. The pronunciation is quite good. Musically it’s rather progressive metal, but it’s on a thin line between progressive and heavy metal, while at times you even get some pure hard rock influences. This means that, although some songs are quite complex, with tempo changes etc. in them, they have managed to hold the reins, and not over-complicate the songs. An album that’s definitely worth listening to, and that could easily please fans of progressive metal, as well as fans of more classic heavy metal. 92/100 Erik Morren. |
