Band : The Kings Of Frog Island The third album by Mathew Betancourt and the boys sees them continuing just where they left off the last time we got together for the album 2. I would have to say that there is nothing wrong with that as The Kings Of Frog Island maintains a level of QOTSA/ Masters of Reality/ Wellwater Conspiracy-like rock that is well worth the price of admission. There might not be anything earth shattering on this disc but it still has some really good hook laden riff rock that guarantees some Hom(m)e-shaking throughout. There's plenty of ferocious rockers here, like "Glebe street whores", "Bride of suicide" the rebellious "I ain’t sorry ", and the grinding fuzz stomp of “The keeper of…”. For a nice change of pace the band also threw in a few atmospheric and moody numbers in "Dark on you" and "A cruel wind blows", both showing off the passionate side of the band. This latest release from The Kings of Frog Island is definitely worth a listen. 85/100 Cosmicmasseur. |
