Band : City of Fire City of Fire is a brand new industrial metal band that found its origin in Vancouver. With their self-entitled debut album they really have to prove how outstanding they are and how persevering they will be in the scene. But, if you take a closer look at the heap of excellent band members of which the band consists, success is simply guaranteed. Some examples are Byron Stroud (Fear Factory, Strapping Young Lad, Zimmers Hole) and Burton C. Bell (Fear Factory, Ministry). With their self-entitled brand new album City of Fire, the band treats us with eleven songs full of energy and wonderfully striking melodies. It’s immediately clear that this band consists of some amazing musicians with an incredible control of their instrument. A new multitalented band is born, that’s for sure.
Musically, this album is very hard to describe if it comes to directing it towards a certain genre. You find influences from all kinds of genres: from metal to industrial to punk, etc.
Already from the first song on ("Carve Your Name") we’re aware of the fact that City of Fire, despite its age, is incredibly mature and that these guys know what it takes to become successful. So why not use this experience? "Rising" is a wonderful rock/metal ballad that fits the album perfectly. This song might even make it to become a hit single! All in all, this album is very mature, melodic and most importantly heavy as hell! The guitar riffs and melodies are wonderfully worked out, which makes City of Fire a real treat for the ear. 82/100 Tim Tronckoe. |
