We could call Kids In Glass Houses a British emo band, but then they would lose all their honour. Therefore, we call them a British rock band, an honour they deserve.
Kids In Glass Houses is ready to release their second full length, which is called Dirt. Luckily, the songs on the album are not as the title suggests. All songs are powerful rock songs.
Before the release of the album, they had already released three singles which can all be found on the album. They started recording more than a year ago and as Roadrunner only wanted to release it at the end of this month, they released some singles, just because the band couldn’t wait for the audience’s reaction."Matters At All", "Youngblood" and "Undercover Lover" were the songs for which the band had already released a video. After having heard those songs, I was mostly curious about the entire album. Dirt kicks off with "Artbreaker I" and by ‘kicks off’ I really mean ‘kicks off”. It immediately opens with a powerful rock vibe with a very catchy chorus. That catchy chorus counts for almost every other song. After having listened two times to a song, you can already sing-a-long."For Better Or Hearse" and "Matters At All" must be the best songs on the album. In this latter song, the band works towards a wonderful climax and in this song it is obvious that the singer has a very good voice.
In "Youngblood", we can hear the typical British sound, such as we know it from bands such as "Arctic Monkeys".
One of the other songs for which they shot a video is "Undercover Lover". In the song, there is a guest performance of Frankie Sandford, known from the British girl group The Saturdays.
Some songs are quite cliché though, like "Lilli Rose". While listening to that song, you really have the feeling that there already are enough songs like that.
As a conclusion I can say that the band is trying hard to create something new and original to separate them from the rest of the rock business. That they are the support band on the upcoming tour of You Me At Six really doesn’t come as a surprise.
