Turning Lead Into Gold With The High Confessions (full title) is an interesting concept. Essentially the brainchild of one man known as Chris Connely (Ministry, Revco) with enlisted help from various musicians such as Steve Shelly (Sonic Youth), Sanford Parker (Minsk) and Jeremy Lermos (White/Light), the band's output must be heard to really be understood.

The listener gets plunged into a surreal experience that never quite makes things easy on anyone. The High Confessions’ style is hard to pinpoint. There is an extensive sense of cinematic music but very twisted. Many segments of this CD should be pleasant, but these fucked-up guys have the tendency to seemingly insert passages that are just off enough to create uneasiness and tension. Adding to this are the lyrics, which are strange and morbid poetic tales. They mesh well with the music, and are always delivered in an appropriate voice.

Without a doubt, The Higher Confessions have created something entirely unusual with Turning Lead Into Gold.
