CD REVIEW Psycho

Release date: 13/07/2010
Release: 7”

Boston has been the one of the leading American cities in good hardcore and punk. Just think of Death Before Dishonor, Have Heart, and many more.
But I’ve never heard a band more furious than Psycho. I’ve even never heard of them before, although they already exist from before I was even born, the year 1982.
Their new self-titled 7” is the first set of new recordings since 1996. It is a new 7”, although there’s only one new song on it, Vertigo. Vertigo is a fast and uncompromising song which can be found somewhere between punk, as if it was written by The Accused, and hardcore, as it was created by Agnostic Front in the glorious times of Victim In Pain. The influence of this band can also be heard in Animal, even though it sounds a bit messy. I like the fact that the entire record sounds very rough, but Animal is too chaotic.
Psycho’s new self-titled 7” may only last five minutes, while listening you’ll quickly have the impression that it only lasts three minutes. Isn’t that what punk’s all about?
