Band: Crank County Daredevils As a first in a very long time, I find myself in the impossibility to place this album in a certain category. Now I won’t argue that good music doesn’t need labeling, only, it does make it easier writing a review. For their third album Crank County Daredevils seem to have absorbed every single influence they could possibly think of to provide us an undefined sound somewhere between Glam, Arena Rock and Metal with a hence of Punk and Southern Rock. Although the whole might come off as one big chaos at first, after a couple of listening sessions everything starts to make more and more sense. The screechy vocals provide a raw power that is present throughout the whole album. The ball busting guitar riffs only strengthen that feeling. Some of the songs (“Last Dance”, “Life Under The Blades”) really are arena-ready rockers, but you can’t take a pass on the obvious influences from bands like Guns ‘n’ Roses. If it’s really necessary to define what I’m hearing, maybe the best way to describe Crank County Daredevils is: the 2010, modern approach to Classic Rock. Magaly. |
