Band: Holy Grail The first ‘new’ heavy metal band from the USA everybody thinks of is, without any doubt, Steel Panther. Holy Grail proves that there’s more to look for in that country far, far away. Holy Grail is a heavy metal band from Los Angeles and is one of the most promising heavy metal acts around. Crisis In Utopia is the first real full length album by Holy Grail. The first song on the record, "My Last Attack", has everything a wonderful metal song needs: speed, great vocals, tight riffs and a very catchy chorus. Further on, I can even hear a slight touch of power metal in it.
The same counts for "Fight To Kill" and "Call Of Valhalla". They are very fast, tight and they have balls too big to fit a leather pants. The latter even makes me think of Avenged Sevenfold, especially the guitars sound a bit the same. In the title track, Holy Grail even adds screams to the song, which is very uncommon for a heavy metal song.
The entire album counts eleven songs and luckily there is a small instrumental break in the middle to catch a break, which is very welcome. Holy Grail is one of the tightest metal bands I’ve heard in a while. Having toured as support for 3 Inches Of Blood and even the big Amon Amarth, I’m sure a fortunate future and an expanding journey around the world lies ahead of this band. 88/100 Nick Tronckoe. |
