Band : Horseburner Horseburner is a relative newcomer, but registers a mighty fine impression with a fivefold assault of groovin’ badness. “World proof”, “Stop drop & blow up”, “Dirt city”, “These are American’s hands” and “When firestorm hits, it’s gonna be a bloodbath” here are runaway trains of aggression and feature wildly varying screaming gritty vocal approaches. Driven by a superb powerhouse rhythm all the way through, this album lends more to the hardcore sludge, drawing the likes of Hull, Baroness, Kylesa and Mastodon in their big-riffing hyper-rhythmic sort of way. Powerful riffs are dusted with the right amount of fuzz, ceaselessly scorching out the thick-necked grooves with monumental aggression. “Stop drop & blow up” and “Dirt city” take the upbeat route, throws in a major nwobhm feel and adds in some flavours of Zeppelin, Cavity and GBH. As the record pounds on, more mixtures of influences and styles are heard, adding in hints of C.O.C., Dayglo Abortions, Sleep, Blue Oyster Cult and Cryptic Slaughter into the pot. Everything here is mixed just right so you don't get (horse)burnt out on them too quickly.. So congrats to Horseburner for dishing out such an aggressive pile of intensity. Cosmicmasseur. |
