CD REVIEW Set Your Goals

Band: Set Your Goals
Album title: This Will Be The Death Of Us
Label: Epitaph
Distributor: PIAS
Release date: 20/07/2009
Release: CD

The American punk rock band Set Your Goals was formed in 2004 and comes forth from the San Francisco Bay Area. No not trash metal, I said punk rock. The band currently consists of vocalists Matt Wilson and Jordan Brown, Audelio Flores Jr and Daniel Coddaire on guitars, Joe Saucedo on the bass and Michael Ambrose on the drums.

Although they exist for over 5 years, this last June has known the release of a second album called This will be the death of us. So on this one they have something to prove against the rest of the punk scene witch is heavily saturated at the moment. Although I’m not really into punk, the album is catchy from the start till the end and has lots of variation on it and no 2 songs sound the same. But it isn’t until track number 7 when guest vocalist Hayley Williams of Paramore joins in for a piece of hip-hop punk cover.

Although the record is out for some time now and there have been lots of other albums of the competition released, it still appears to be nice and safe album for people who are not into the genre but want to give it a try.

87/100
