Band : Seventh Wonder Seventh Wonder have thus far released 2 demos and 3 studio albums. This album The Great Escape is their fourth studio album. Yet I must admit I’d never heard of this Swedish band before. Which is a shame, because if their former albums were anywhere as good as this one, I’ve missed a lot. As with most Scandinavian bands, the vocals are good, flawless English, and the songs are well composed as well. Not only does Tommy Karevik sing in flawless English, but he has a very good voice as well. Although there are only seven songs on this album, it clocks of at just over an hour. That’s because the sevent song alone, which also is the title track is already 30 minutes long. Being that long you can imagine that this song contains lots of different sequences, that in one way or antoher do fall into places and make this a fantastic song. The story of this title track is based on an epic spage saga Aniara written by Harry Martinson in 1956. What else can be said about this album? Well not much, except that this is an album that prog metal fans should give a try. 96/100 Erik Morren. |
