Yeah, we already have a winner for the new label Night Tripper  that will release cd’s with hard rocking bands with their roots in the 70’s as well as the early 80’s.

The French trio Soul Manifest join Graveyard, Dead Man and We in presenting an effective, no-frills approach to hard rock music - presenting great songs while sticking to the roots of four decades of good rock n’ roll.  White Season is an album that displays quite a bit of variety due to its various influences, and should please fans of classic hard rock and '60s/ '70s rock. Although the band's musical prowess is obvious and impressive, it is the song writing style that gives the band a rough-edged, ass-kicking swing while at the same time offering tremendously addictive hooks. The album never gets boring, picking up groove whenever you feel like things are going to quiet down This is an album jammed with loose and well-played melodic classic rock with progressive parts mixed with psych and bluesy influences. To get a more classic rock feeling a la Deep Purple/ The Doors the band included keyboards and organs in the songs. I am impressed by the sound they have created which is truly warm, organic and tight. The vocalist has a pleasant voice although he seems to struggle with some notes here and there, but that's a minor gripe. The best and longest track “ The light” is a laid back trip number with some moments of amped up guitars, hypnotizing didgeridoo and drum action, but it it fits like a glove, never sounding forced or contrived. I think Soul Manifest can be a name to remember in the future, so keep your eyes open..

Also have to admit, that is one COOL psychedelic woman head that graces the cover of the album! It’s drawn by French poster artist Johan Jacob, who will also join Elektrohasch Label Night (Colour Haze, Hypnos69, Rotor and Sungrazer) with his silkscreens and offset posters at Het Depot on February 5th  in Leuven.
