Waking The Cadaver will celebrate their fifth anniversary this year. In the past, they were enormously ‘popular’ within the underground scene, being one of the most visited bands on Myfuck*space and Youfuck*tube. Besides, their debut, Perverse Recollections Of A Necromangler, did sell quite well without any retail support.

This newest monster lasts for almost half an hour and goes on (or further) where Perverse Recollections … stopped. The band’s so-called Slamming Gore Groove still combines Blast-Death, Groove and Deathcore-inspired Grind, including the doomish parts, lacking of experiments and modern additions, yet with a very technical (guitar) approach and a fabulously intense and extreme rhythm section. The recording however completely lacks of an own face. The influences sometimes are much too evident, and the shamelessly copying comes close to uncomfortable tristesse.

But the average quality is acceptable, so I’m sure this will be appreciated by fans of everything between, well, let’s say, Dying Fetus, Suffocating, Ripping Corpse, Abysmal Dawn, Internal Bleeding and Soils Of Fate.

70/100
