Band: War From A Harlots Mouth German quintet War From A Harlots Mouth is not content with sticking to only one genre. Their latest album In Shoals, brings the first minute a hardcore sound; the next the are switching gears for a melodic, jazzy interlude. War From A Harlots Mouth throws everything they have, where their previous album was a variation of mathcore, hardcore breakdowns, sludgrock elements and dark jazz influences. This ones does not vary a lot from that formula but you will notice a big step towards a more brutal side. The band makes these entire elements blend together well, and don’t stick to a linear songwriting structure. The band brings a completely mechanical sound what in one way redefines them in this particular genre, but music-wise, a lot of details go lost in the sound and rhythm and I can't imagine a lot of people that can listen to this music for a long time, especially since their aren’t a lot of melodies going on. This album is a war on its on with no way out to flee or escape from it. It's hard, brutal and much more, but it is something you’ll either love or hate 78/100 Jeroen. |
