Review : CD

Psychedelic stoner rock may be the new thing in Spain. Since the appearance of bands like Viaje a 800 (hey guys, when will the new album be released?), Domo,  Galapogoos, Cuzo and El Paramo, there has been a true flood for this genre..

The first thing really remarkable about this album, before even having listened to it, is the fact that it is released on a German label, Nasoni Records. Quite an accomplishment, considering how hard it is for Spanish bands to get their feet down in the world out there. The counterplay of mellow guitars and erupting noise attacks is more than reminding of Datura, Causa Sui and of course Colour Haze. Since Colour Haze made it big, there has been an amazing emergence of bands performing similarly  music. Which means that a price for originality is out of the questions for Arenna, but you can pick any of the six pieces and hear heavy riff rock in a quality that doesn't need to hide behind these bands out there. They take time to construct their songs, starting with slow intro parts that gradually build up to devastating infernos.

Beats Of Olarizu is by all means a highly promising debut. This band deserves to be kept in sight.
