Band : Crimson Falls No, me deeries, nay a new album by the wonderfully wacky Belgian Metalcore outfit, but a re-release (on a larger scale – three cheers and a yahoo to boot!!!) of their 2009 album, review by yours truly for which was posted on 13/04/2009. And that (along with the references given therein) is where I'll direct you for all info concerning the band's history up to that point. Let's see what happened to the quintet since, shall we? You see, after the album's release the band was put in the position to support such leading scene acts as the Black Dahlia Murder, All Shall Perish, White Chapel, Origin, and Despised Icon. The band started off its first European tour in support of Italian nutters (I actually love 'em, so don't think I'm looking down on 'em here) Stigma (tour which was to bring 'em to Germany, France, Spain, Italy, the Czech republic, Austria, and Holland), at the 2009 Ieperfest event. After that the band separated from founding guitarist Ringo Van Dingenen, as he was no longer to give the band his full dedication due to situations in his personal life. In Autumn 2009 the band started working on new material with replacement Jeroen Foré (of Strich.nine and formerly of Catafalque), while Friso Van Wijck (formerly of Polluted inheritance) stepped in as temporary replacement on the drums to ensure no shows would have to be canceled (that including an appearance at the revered Roosendaal-based Dutch festival Mosh Meeting in March 2010). After a long and hard search, one Michael Stevenick eventually took up permanent position behind the drums in May 2010. After that, a gap caused by lacking information, but I know the band played at the Danish Day Of Decay festival in mid August, and did another European tour (with some concentration of Romania) in late October/ early November. News about licencing the Fragments Of Awareness to Rising Records was issued already in early November of last year...and it makes the mind boggle as to why some labels put off actually releasing albums which are ready-made. Ah well, in the meantime the band was enabled to play at Mons' (French-speaking part of Belgium) Monster Metal festival. At the moment (May/ June) the band is having a break for a variety of reasons, but afterward the intent is to finish the writing process (already started a while ago) for a new album to be recorded (and possibly released) later in the year! Okay, as for the rating of the album, it remains the same as in 2009 (when it was part of my year-lists!). 98/100 Tony. |
