Band: Never The Last Breath Never The Last Breath formed in early 2009. It’s a female fronted alternative heavy rock avant-garde band with here and there are some industrial elements. They started out and began writing not knowing exactly how they wanted to sound like. After the combination of various elements and influences from every member, they finally got the sound they wanted. To be honest, I’m not really impressed. Sound-wize, this is a nightmare to listen to. No one is tuned to another giving a very dissonant sound. Its can be best described as the sound when you turn on 2 different records (of a different genre) at the same time. Instrumentally, there are some highlights on this record in the form of a cool stoner rock riff, or even something in the genre of Lamb Of God. But it ends there. Then there are the vocals, The clean vocals may be technically ok, but sound nasal and without passion giving it a forced impression. The screams and grunts are heavy, but sound like a barking dog. Still a young band with much to learn. 51/100 Jeroen. |
