KULT!
One of the first worthy names within the British Metal scene. Yes, the list is too long – think Motörhead, Amebix, Venom, Tank, the many (NWOB)HM- and Doom-bands and so on, and so on, and so on. Of undeniable importance are Warfare, being a source of inspiration for bands worldwide within diverse musical scenes: from Punk and Hardcore over Thrash and Heavy Metal to Death and Black Metal.
This album is a best of-compilation with material from the eighties, taken from historic albums as Pure Filth, Metal Anarchy, A Conflict Of Hatred etc. The sixteen tracks do sound dated, of course, yet at the same time enormously inspirational, influential and, above all, so pure and honest. These sounds are the essential basics of Metal, Rock and Punk, stripped off of any trendy or fake commercialised addition.
I just wonder why we need another compilation again. Sanctuary did release one about a decade ago (called Metal Anarchy, which was a double-CD with almost two hours of Warfare-material), and the band released one in 1993 to celebrate their tenth anniversary.
