If you’re a fan of eighties hard rock à la Y & T, Ratt, Dokken, Europeb, Whitesnake to name but a few bands, you should try out this new album by Swedish rockers Coldspell

Besides the fact that guitarist and main composer Michael Larsson knows how to write a catchy song, you have to give your thumbs up for the vocal performance by Niklas Swedentorp, who, like most English singing Swedes shows no sign of an accent.  You can put his voice somewhere between John Sykes, Joey Tempest and a young(er) David Coverdale.
However what does the trick for me are the keyboards.  Although not overly prominent, at times is sounds as if Matti Eklund is playing on one of those old Hammond organs like Deep Purplehad.

Besides the good songs, the excellent musicianship, production is also very good, mixing was done by none other than Tommy Hansen (Helloween, TNT, Jorn, Pretty Maids, …)
If you’re a fan of hard rock or heavy melodic rock then this one surely is something for you.

90/100
