CD REVIEW Nirvana

To celebrate the original release from this album 20 years ago, a deluxe anniversary edition was released.  This might be welcome for fans, since it contains not only the original album, but also some B – sides and rarities, and to top it all of some previously unreleased tracks.

At the time of its release this album sort of created a nuclear explosion.  The release of this album meant that a lot of classic rock artists, became more or less forgotten.  To top it of in it’s wake record companies around the world started looking for Nirvana clones, and traditional groups had a hard time to secure a record deal.
I bought the album out of curiosity 20 years ago, and I remember that at that time I was seriously disappointed.  There were 3 tracks on the album I liked, and those were ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’, ‘Come As You Are’ and finally ‘Lithium’.  Exactly the 3 songs that nowadays are still played on radio stations.  The other songs I found rubbish.

And now, 20 years later, my opinion still is the same.  And all the extras are not exactly what I’m looking for either.  The so called ‘Boombox Rehearsals’ are of that bad a quality of sound that they could just as easily have been left out.

I’m sorry if my harsh verdict hurts the Nirvana fans, but everybody is entitled to state his own opinion.

69/100
